Diana Roberts

Diana Roberts' interest in wine was first piqued during family vacations from her hometown of San Diego, CA, to Valle de Guadalupe wine country in Baja, Mexico. Inspired by her experiences there and with her family's encouragement, she enrolled at California State University Fresno in the enology program.

While earning her bachelor’s degree, Diana learned all aspects of winemaking as an intern at King’s Valley Winery. Upon graduation in 2016, she moved to Whitehaven Wine Company in New Zealand to get experience working with white wines and rosé before returning to the United States in 2017 to join Provenance Vineyards in Napa Valley as a harvest enologist. "Napa Valley offered a great experience, but I wanted to come to the Central Coast because it is an up-and-coming region that produces stellar wines," she says. She joined Treasury Wine Estates’ Paso Robles winery in 2018, working on several winemaking projects across the portfolio, first as an enologist and then as assistant winemaker.

In 2022, Diana was named Winemaker at Lyric Wines. "Monterey County Pinot Noir has a subtle elegance that I enjoy, and this delicate grape requires finesse in the vineyard and winery, offering me a unique challenge," she said.

An avid bookworm and budding backpacker, Diana believes her new role is the perfect blend of all aspects of her personality. "Wine is an art, combining the wildness of nature with the craftsmanship of poetry. Lyric, for me, is the embodiment of what I love about wine and life."
